Is your child having a tough time?
Your child may be experiencing a change related to moving, a recent loss, divorce, a new sibling or be experiencing gender identity issues. Or maybe they're having trouble with friends or with controlling their emotions. This can be very upsetting and affect the whole family, and you may not know how to make things better.
I provide a free and protected space for children ages 10 and up. I help them unlock buried emotions and learn healthy ways to express their feelings in daily life. Clients learn about their brains and about how to use signals from their bodies as coping clues. In therapy, we may use drawing, dream exploration, games, and relaxation exercises.
Parents and caregivers are important to a child and their therapy process. I welcome parents' concerns and viewpoints. I work to help build communication between parents and children, in part by helping your child to better express what's going on inside.
I have extensive training in Play Therapy, including Sand Play, and I am also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Before becoming a full-time therapist, I worked in the Davis schools as a parent volunteer, a para-educator, and as a substitute teacher. While at Sutter, I worked with the Children's Bereavement Art Group.
